First off, today was a good day. I biked to a beach and found some strangers who let me play volleyball with them all afternoon. That is ho one seizes the day, when one can, before the bummerhood that is the school year arrives.
Last night I spent some time creating a page with iLike to make available mp3s of some of my older songs. I'm not much of a singer, or a musician, but I think I write decent songs. I dream of creating a website, stealthesesongs.com or somesuch and posting music and lyrics. There're thousands of washed-up musicians who could benefit from some quality songs written by someone who doesn't require royalties of any kind. To date, I'm too cheap to register another domain and pessimistic that I'd successfully draw attention to said site.
I digress. It's my hope that, as I record a new album, I can get a few people to listen to my previous ones... maybe even a stranger or two. iLike plays nicely with Facebook and other social pages, so maybe there's some hope there.
If anyone has ideas of how to bring decent enough songs to the attention of that small niche that would enjoy them, please share. In the meantime, feel free to visit my iLike site.
In other news, I'm really digging old Liz Phair records now. I can't think of a more impressive drop in quality so quickly as for her between 'Whitechocolatespaceegg' and her radio-friendly/brainless self-titled album. I'm beginning to forgive so that the healing may begin. Also, I include a picture of her because that's nicer to look at than any picture that might accompany my comments on recording.
Finally, my dear friends Laura and Dave had a baby the other day, and I'm very happy for them. Within this past several months my cousin Andy and his wife Sarah and my good friends Melinda and David and Kent and Cait also had children, and I'm happy for all of them.
